Joy Division: Incubation
—Great music, but mostly because the photo is so awesome.
Via BoingBoing: “Currently on tour in the US, Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook and his band The Light are performing Joy Division’s classic 1979 debut album “Unknown Pleasures” in its entirety. Unfortunately, tonight’s show in San Francisco is sold out or I’d be there. Instead, I will dance, dance, dance to the YouTube.”
—Damn, I didn’t know anything about this! I have to keep up more.
Does this look familiar? Take a closer look. It isn’t that fashion accessory that every angsty teen has owned for the last 30 years. No. This is a new take on that iconic album cover. One could say, this is Unknown Pleasures 2.0.
Enough of the stuffy ol’ Joy Division. Lighten it up a bit and have a laugh, how about SNAILS!!!! Yes, the sound wave pattern has been made into snails! THIS IS PUNK ROCK!

Plus, best album cover ever.

Via Dangerous Minds: “
A careful restoration of Joy Division/New Order’s years on Factory Records (and maybe a little before and after). All tracks were taken from the best/earliest possible sources to avoid modern mastering techniques which crush the dynamics. Tracks sourced from vinyl have been carefully cleaned and EQ levels have been tweaked for consistency. The artwork was scanned at the highest possible resolution and the type was reset when possible using the original fonts.”
Don’t know what most of that means, but it sounds fantastic.
